Brownsville Transit Village in Miami celebrates Phase V with groundbreaking ceremony, to add 120 affordable housing units

Miami, Florida – On Monday, the final stage of the Brownsville Transit Village kicked off with a lively celebration and a groundbreaking ceremony held at 5115 NW 29th Ave. in Miami. This project, which started in 2014 and spans 5.2 acres near the Brownsville Metrorail Station, aims to make housing more affordable in some of Miami-Dade’s most economically challenged areas.

The latest phase, Phase V, will add 120 housing units specifically for families with very low to low income. According to a recent announcement by Miami-Dade County, these will include 28 studio apartments and 92 one-bedroom apartments. These homes come with amenities such as a community room, a fitness center, and laundry facilities on site. They are set to be ready by August 2025 and will be available to individuals making between 30% and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

The project has already completed its first four phases, which provided 401 affordable housing units across four 14-story buildings. These buildings include a parking garage with 660 spaces for residents and an additional 100 spaces reserved for Metrorail users, plus 6,400 square feet of retail space.

Developers Atlantic Pacific Companies and the Mount Sinai Community Development Corporation are also involved. The launch event was attended by local dignitaries such as the mayor and city commissioners.
