Cook and The Cork brings Japanese-inspired dining to Coral Springs with a special night supporting culinary scholarships
Coral Springs, Florida – An evening of Japanese-inspired food, drinks and culinary exploration is coming to Coral Springs, with a local restaurant turning a special dining experience into an opportunity to support aspiring chefs.
Cook and The Cork will host its Japanese Night fundraiser on Tuesday, Sept. 8, with proceeds going toward culinary scholarships for students at the Culinary Institute of America. The event is designed to combine a full evening of food with support for students working toward careers in the culinary industry.
Guests will be served an eight-course, small-plate tasting menu featuring a range of dishes inspired by Japanese flavors and cooking traditions. The menu moves from seafood and appetizers to meat, vegetables, noodles and dessert, giving diners a chance to sample several different styles during the evening.
Among the featured dishes is a Florida lobster and avocado sushi roll. The menu also includes smoked tuna tacos served with yuzu cucumber and sea vegetables, along with karaage chicken prepared with lemon and ginger.
For guests looking for a meat-free option, the evening will feature shiitake mushroom and tofu gyoza with ponzu dipping sauce. Other courses include Wagyu steak skewers with wafu sauce and grilled corn potato salad.
The vegetable course pairs asparagus and watercress with a ginger-sesame dressing. The main selections also include togarashi-crusted salmon served with chilled soba noodles, bringing another combination of Japanese seasoning and familiar ingredients to the table.
Dessert will take a distinctly Japanese turn as well, with matcha cheesecake accompanied by plum sauce.
The restaurant is also putting together a selection of drinks to complement the menu. Co-owner Dena Blauschild said guests will have the chance to try a special Japanese whisky, Shiki Single Malt Whisky.
“We also have special beers: Coedo IPA and Pilsner from Japan, and Dassai Blue is co-sponsoring the event with a range of their very special sakes, made in the USA from rice grown in the USA,” she said.
The event offers more than a chance to try an unusual tasting menu. By directing proceeds toward culinary scholarships, Cook and The Cork is helping provide support for students pursuing professional culinary education at the Culinary Institute of America.
Tickets for Japanese Night are priced at $86 per person. Tax, beverages and gratuity are not included in the ticket price.
