Spirit Christmas plans November 6 opening at former Big Lots in Coral Springs
Coral Springs, Florida – A former Big Lots storefront in Coral Springs is preparing for a change of seasons. Spirit Christmas plans to open a temporary holiday store at 725 N. University Drive in November, bringing Christmas merchandise and interactive displays to a space currently operating as Spirit Halloween.
The store is scheduled to open November 6, according to published store-opening schedules. The transition is expected to take place after Halloween, when the location finishes its current seasonal run.
Coral Springs is one of four Florida cities included in Spirit Christmas’s expansion for the 2026 holiday season. Clearwater, Jacksonville and Winter Garden are also set to receive stores, marking the retailer’s first locations in the state. Nationwide, the company plans to operate 44 stores across 15 states this year.

Created by the company behind Spirit Halloween, Spirit Christmas uses a similar temporary retail model. Vacant storefronts become seasonal shopping destinations, with the Christmas concept combining home decorations, gifts and holiday attractions.
At the Coral Springs store, shoppers can expect Christmas trees, ornaments, wreaths, string lights and outdoor inflatables. The merchandise selection will also include festive clothing, stocking stuffers and other seasonal gifts, offering items for both decorating and gift exchanges.
Animated decorations and collectible merchandise are also part of the retailer’s offerings. Products inspired by well-known Christmas movies and characters will accompany the more traditional holiday items.
Beyond the shelves, the company has announced interactive displays intended to make the stores part of a holiday outing. One of those attractions, the Candy Cane Express, is designed around the sights, sounds and scents of Christmas.

Another attraction, Inflatable Land, will feature oversized seasonal decorations and familiar characters such as Frosty the Snowman. Heat Miser and Snow Miser, from the television special “The Year Without a Santa Claus,” will also appear in the seasonal experience.
“The holidays are so much more than what’s under the tree. They’re about the traditions families return to year after year and the magic of creating new ones,” said Kym Sarkos, executive vice president of Spirit.
“From decorating your home and trimming the tree to family game nights and white elephant exchanges, we’re proud to offer a holiday destination where guests can discover new favorites and create memories that become part of their own holiday traditions.”
The Florida openings come during Spirit Christmas’s third season. The retailer launched in 2024 with eight stores in the Northeast, then expanded to 30 locations in 2025. Its planned 44-store footprint for 2026 adds 14 locations to last year’s total and brings the concept into new markets.
For Coral Springs, the opening will give the former Big Lots space another seasonal use immediately after its Halloween operation. The same address will shift from costumes and Halloween merchandise to Christmas decorations, gifts and themed displays as the year-end shopping season approaches.
Residents planning a visit can check SpiritChristmas.com for store hours, additional information and opening updates. The announced November 6 date places the Coral Springs launch shortly after Halloween, with the temporary store focused on the 2026 Christmas season.
