Coral Glades student athletes continue strong academic and athletic success with awards scholarships and college commitments across multiple sports programs

Coral Springs, Florida – Student-athletes at Coral Glades High School are continuing to make headlines for achievements that extend far beyond the playing field, with a wave of scholarships, awards, and college commitments highlighting a strong year for the program.

Across multiple sports, athletes have been recognized for both performance and character, reflecting a culture that values discipline in the classroom just as much as effort in competition. From soccer and baseball to golf and other programs, Coral Glades continues to produce students who are moving confidently into the next level of their athletic and academic journeys.

Several athletes were recently honored for their accomplishments. Haley Swickle received a $1,000 scholarship from the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, while Christa Reese earned a similar $1,000 award from the Miami Dolphins. Alongside them, Noelle Brooks, Allura Buelvas, Jordin Shurpin, Caleb Kohnert, and Konnor Cappiello were all recognized with conference awards for their performances during the season, underscoring the depth of talent across the school’s programs.

One of the most notable individual stories comes from golfer Bianca Gibbs, who has officially committed to continue her career at Vassar College. For Gibbs, the decision marks the end of a long period of uncertainty and the beginning of a new chapter.

“I am so happy to have committed to Vassar College,” Gibbs said. “All throughout high school, I’ve been wondering where I will be spending my college years. Now that I finally know, it doesn’t feel real.”

Gibbs’ journey in golf began early, at just five years old, when she started playing at the Country Club of Coral Springs. Over time, she trained at several facilities including the John Prince Golf Learning Center and Okeeheelee Golf Course in Palm Beach County, later continuing her development at Oriole Golf Club in Margate. That steady progression helped shape a high school career filled with consistent success.

Her achievements include becoming a two-time BCAA Champion, with a standout performance in 2024 when she shot a 66 to take first place. She also finished second in district tournaments twice, placed among the top competitors in regional events, and competed in the state championship on two separate occasions. Although she initially did not plan to play at the collegiate level, encouragement from friends and family ultimately influenced her decision.

“This past November and March, I met Coach Klenotiz, some of the girls on the team, and other students at the school, and they were all very kind and welcoming,” Gibbs said. “Vassar not only offers great academics, but also a wonderful community to surround myself with over the next four years.”

On the soccer field, Logan Mir is also moving forward at the next level, announcing his commitment to Florida Memorial University. Playing as a center back, Mir played a key defensive role throughout the season, helping the team secure three shutouts. Coral Glades finished with 11 wins and reached the regional stage in back-to-back years.

“Committing to play college soccer feels unreal,” Mir said. “It’s pride and excitement knowing the work paid off, but also responsibility. I chose Florida Memorial University because of the coaching staff, the opportunity to grow, and the tough environment.”

In baseball, Sebastian Duran has committed to continue his athletic career at Young Harris College. Duran had a solid season for the Jaguars, batting .278 and driving in six runs as the team finished with a 14-10 record.

“Special thank you to my parents, family, and teammates for making this possible, Duran said. “I’d like to thank Coach Ernie and the entire Coral Glades coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to grow and compete.”

Taken together, these accomplishments reflect a broader pattern at Coral Glades: athletes who are not only competing at a high level but also preparing for life beyond high school. Whether through scholarships, conference recognition, or college commitments, the school’s student-athletes continue to build a strong reputation grounded in effort, growth, and opportunity.
