30-year-old woman arrested after alleged road rage confrontation and gun threat on Sample Road in Coral Springs
Coral Springs, Florida – A road rage confrontation in Coral Springs quickly turned into a police investigation after a driver reported that another motorist pointed a gun at her following an alleged “brake check” on Sample Road.
The incident happened shortly after 10:42 a.m. on Aug. 19 near Sample Road and Turtle Creek Drive. According to a Coral Springs Police arrest report, the victim told officers that a silver Subaru had suddenly slowed in front of her in what she described as a “brake check.”
The victim moved into the far-right lane and eventually stopped near Turtle Creek Drive. Police said the driver of the Subaru then pulled alongside her vehicle.
At that point, the driver allegedly pointed a gun at the victim before driving away. The victim immediately called 911 and gave police the vehicle’s Virginia license plate number, providing investigators with an important clue as they began searching for the suspect.
The Coral Springs Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center assisted officers in tracking down the Subaru. Within minutes, an officer spotted the vehicle near Sample Road and University Drive.

Police followed the Subaru to a Starbucks located at 3451 N. University Drive. The vehicle was stopped there, and the woman believed to have been involved in the confrontation was taken into custody around 10:49 a.m.
Police identified the suspect as Sarah Catherine Browning, 30, of Pompano Beach. She was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, according to the arrest report.
The investigation did not end with the arrest. Officers also searched the Subaru and reported finding a loaded SIG Sauer handgun inside a bag on the rear passenger floorboard.
Browning’s driver’s license was reportedly found inside the same bag with the firearm, according to police.
The entire sequence unfolded in only a few minutes. The initial call came shortly after 10:42 a.m., and by about 10:49 a.m., officers had located the Subaru and arrested Browning outside the University Drive Starbucks.
The case began with a traffic confrontation but escalated when the victim reported that a firearm was displayed during the encounter. Police were able to use the information provided during the 911 call, including the vehicle’s Virginia license plate, along with assistance from the department’s Real Time Crime Center, to locate the vehicle.
Browning was taken to the Broward County jail following her arrest.
The charges described in the police report are allegations, and the case will proceed through the court system.
