J.P. Taravella welcomes incoming freshmen with Wild Wild Trojans orientation before the new school year
Coral Springs, Florida – J.P. Taravella High School is getting ready to welcome its newest students with a special freshman orientation event designed to help incoming ninth graders feel prepared and excited for the start of high school.
The school will host its “Wild Wild Trojans” orientation on Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at J.P. Taravella High School, located at 10600 Riverside Dr. The western-themed event will introduce members of the Class of 2030 to their new school environment before they officially begin their high school journey.
Organizers say the orientation is designed to make the transition from middle school to high school easier by giving students a chance to become familiar with the campus, meet future classmates and learn more about life as a Trojan.
Throughout the event, incoming freshmen will participate in activities focused on building connections and confidence. Students will have opportunities to explore the school, understand campus routines and take part in interactive experiences created specifically for new ninth graders.
Parents are also invited to take part in the day through a Parent Academy scheduled from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The session will provide families with information and guidance as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
The registration fee for the orientation is $20. It includes a Class of 2030 T-shirt, lunch, a scavenger hunt and other activities planned throughout the event. School officials encourage incoming freshmen to register in advance to reserve their place.
The “Wild Wild Trojans” orientation is being held just days before students across Broward County Public Schools return for the 2026-27 academic year on Aug. 10. For many freshmen, the event will serve as their first opportunity to experience the J.P. Taravella campus atmosphere before the first official day of classes.
School leaders say programs like freshman orientation play an important role in helping students start high school on the right path. By creating opportunities for students to connect with peers and become comfortable in their new surroundings, the event aims to build school spirit and create a strong beginning for the Class of 2030.
With its western theme, activities and focus on community, “Wild Wild Trojans” is expected to provide incoming students with a memorable introduction to their new high school experience.
