Coral Springs police identify 34-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash at Wiles Road and Coral Ridge Drive intersection during afternoon collision

Coral Springs, Florida – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who lost his life in a crash last week at one of Coral Springs’ busiest intersections, as investigators continue working to determine all the circumstances surrounding the collision.

According to Coral Springs Police, 34-year-old Daniel Beas-Gamez was killed in a traffic accident that occurred during the afternoon hours of June 18 at the intersection of Wiles Road and Coral Ridge Drive.

Police said the crash happened at approximately 1:44 p.m. as Beas-Gamez was traveling northbound on Coral Ridge Drive on a motorcycle. Investigators determined that he entered the intersection against a red traffic signal and collided with a Volkswagen SUV that was making a left turn from Coral Ridge Drive onto Wiles Road.

The details of the incident were confirmed by Sgt. Francis Capre, a spokesperson for the Coral Springs Police Department.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene following reports of the collision. Despite those efforts, Beas-Gamez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash brought traffic in the area to a standstill as police secured the intersection and launched an extensive investigation. Authorities closed the intersection in all directions for several hours while officers documented evidence, examined the vehicles involved, and reconstructed the events leading up to the collision.

In addition to shutting down the intersection, police also closed all westbound lanes of Wiles Road between Northwest 110th Avenue and Coral Ridge Drive. The closures caused significant traffic disruptions throughout the afternoon as motorists were forced to seek alternate routes around the area.

Officials said no other injuries were reported in connection with the crash. The driver of the Volkswagen SUV was not reported to have suffered injuries during the incident.

Fatal motorcycle crashes often require detailed investigations due to the severity of the impacts involved and the need to accurately determine contributing factors. Investigators typically review witness statements, roadway conditions, vehicle positions, and traffic signal data as part of the process.

For residents and commuters, the collision served as a sobering reminder of the dangers that can arise at busy intersections, particularly during daytime traffic periods when vehicle volumes remain high.
