Coral Springs Charter flag football team concludes historic run with regional playoff exit after record-breaking breakthrough season

Coral Springs, Florida – What started as a new and developing program just two seasons ago has quickly turned into one of the most impressive early runs in local high school sports, as Coral Springs Charter Panthers saw their historic flag football campaign come to an end in the regional round after a breakthrough year filled with milestones, records, and growth.

The Panthers entered postseason play with confidence after securing a district title and earning a regional appearance for the first time in program history. Seeded fifth, they hosted Avon Park High School in a tightly contested matchup that kept momentum shifting on both sides of the field.

In the end, Coral Springs Charter fell short, losing 14-6 in a game that stayed competitive until the final minutes. Despite the loss, the team’s performance reflected just how far the program has come in a short time.

Offensively, Ali Rodriguez led the way once again, accounting for the team’s only touchdown on the ground. She finished the game with 100 rushing yards and 120 passing yards, continuing a season-long trend of versatility and leadership at quarterback.

Even with the playoff exit, CSC’s overall season told a much larger story. The Panthers closed the year with 13 wins, a dramatic jump of seven victories compared to their first season. That improvement alone underscored how quickly the program has found its identity.

Rodriguez’s season statistics were among the most eye-catching in the region. She finished with 2,786 passing yards and 20 passing touchdowns while also adding 1,256 rushing yards and 12 rushing scores, showing a rare dual-threat ability that fueled much of the team’s offensive success.

She was far from alone in producing standout numbers. Brenna Mazanec, Eva Rodriguez, and Riley Guerrera each surpassed 600 receiving yards, combining for 19 total touchdowns through the air. Lexi Bartell contributed two receiving touchdowns, while Kaylee Stewart and Juliette Beauregard each added one, rounding out a balanced offensive attack.

On the defensive side, Coral Springs Charter showed equal determination. Sarah Manigat led the team with 51 flag pulls, just ahead of Bartell’s 47. O’Meira Charlton added 38 flags along with an impressive 18 sacks, giving the defense a consistent edge in pressure situations throughout the season.

Turnovers also played a major role in the Panthers’ success. Guerrera recorded nine interceptions on the year, while the team as a whole finished with 30 interceptions. Mazanec and Bartell each contributed six, helping CSC consistently swing momentum in key games.

The combination of offensive firepower and defensive playmaking helped shape a season that exceeded expectations and set a new standard for the young program. Even in defeat, the regional playoff appearance marked a significant step forward.

While the 14-6 loss to Avon Park ends the Panthers’ postseason run, the broader story is one of rapid development and promise. In just two years, Coral Springs Charter has gone from a new program to a district champion and regional contender, signaling that this early success may only be the beginning.
