During art season, Miami’s art institutes display artistic creations
Miami, Florida – It’s official: Art Miami Week has taken over South Florida, turning the region into a mecca of creativity and culture.
Although Art Basel frequently takes center stage, the festivities encompass much more than merely prestigious exhibitions. The entire city comes alive in a vibrant celebration, showcasing the success of local institutions.
Located in the vibrant Little Haiti neighborhood, Locust Projects showcases the dynamic art scene of Miami. This non-commercial gallery has been pushing the boundaries of artistic expression since its founding in 1998.
“For us, Art Miami Week has evolved into something much larger,” says Lori Mertes, Executive Director of Locust Projects. “Art Basel has evolved beyond its original scope.” Miami Art Week is here. It can be found in every direction—north, south, east, and west. Every part of the city is engaged.
Locust Projects has persistently pushed the boundaries of conventional gallery offerings. Its cavernous spaces, boasting 16-foot ceilings, have hosted everything from jackhammered floors to above-ground swimming pools — all in the name of creative freedom.
“We welcome everyone to join us for free during Art Miami Week,” Mertes states. “We offer artists the chance to explore possibilities that conventional museums are unable to support.”
Nearby, the Historic Hampton House in Brownsville presents a blend of art and the vibrant cultural heritage of Miami. Once a haven for civil rights leaders and jazz icons, the restored mid-century motel now serves as a vibrant cultural hub.
