Miami-Dade County opens Dream Homes Lottery, applications accepted for two homes until August 7

Miami-Dade County, Florida – Miami-Dade County Public Housing and Community Development (PHCD) is excited to announce that applications for the Dream Homes Lottery are now open. This program gives potential homeowners the chance to buy one of two homes at 15300 SW 296 Street, Miami, FL 33033. One home is 1,813 square feet and the other is 1,777 square feet; both have 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Applications are accepted from July 24 to August 7, 2024.

“Today, we take a significant step towards empowering our community by providing more opportunities for homeownership,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “The Dream Homes Lottery exemplifies our commitment to making Miami-Dade County a place where everyone can achieve their dreams.”

District 8 Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins emphasized, “This initiative is a gateway to homeownership and an important investment in the future of our families and neighborhoods. By fostering opportunities for residents to own their homes, we are building stronger, more resilient communities.”

The lottery offers a fair and clear method for qualified participants to possibly get their dream home. Interested parties can apply online from July 24 at 8 a.m. (Eastern Time). It’s important to note that each person is allowed only one application, and providing false information will lead to disqualification.

Key Information:

  • Application Period: July 24, 2024, at 8 a.m. to August 7, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time).
  • Application Method: Online submissions only; no paper applications will be accepted.
  • Selection Process: All applications submitted during the open registration will enter a computer-generated random selection process. Successfully qualified applicants will receive a confirmation number.

Applicants can check their eligibility by taking a self-assessment and reviewing the frequently asked questions section on our website. Our goal is to assist qualified individuals in achieving homeownership in Miami-Dade County.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Minimum credit score of 580.
  • Household income at or below 120% of the area median income.
  • Employment for at least two years or equivalent income source.
  • Commitment to use the home as a primary residence for the 20-year control period.
  • Availability of a 3% down payment (approximately $11,820).

Lottery Guidelines:

  • Ten qualified applicants will be selected. Those chosen from the waiting list will be contacted to proceed with financing.
  • Applicants must complete an 8-hour Homebuyer Education Course and secure financing within 45 days.
