Coral Glades leads before lightning stops play as four local football teams lose

Coral Springs, Florida – Coral Glades will have to wait to finish its latest football game after lightning interrupted play with the Jaguars ahead. Four other local teams completed their games with losses as the regular season moved closer to its final weeks.

The Jaguars held a 7-0 advantage midway through the second quarter when play was suspended. The game is scheduled to resume Monday, October 19, at 5 p.m., leaving the result undecided until the teams return to the field.

For Coral Springs Charter, a strong passing performance was not enough to overcome North Broward Prep. The Panthers lost 41-27, bringing their season record to 3-6.

Quarterback Kai Gray threw four touchdown passes in one of his strongest outings of the season. Two of those scoring throws went to Caden Patel during the second half.

Patel also contributed on defense with an interception. Noah See and DJ Martin each intercepted a pass as well, giving Charter three interceptions despite the defeat.

The Panthers now turn to their regular-season finale against Coral Springs High School. The teams are scheduled to meet Friday, October 23, at 7 p.m.

The Colts enter that matchup still looking for their first victory. A 42-0 loss to Fort Lauderdale High School left Coral Springs High at 0-8, setting up a meeting between two teams seeking to respond to their latest defeats.

J.P. Taravella also suffered a setback, losing 36-14 to Hollywood Hills High School on Thursday. The Trojans fell to 1-7, with their only win this season coming against Northeast High School.

Taravella’s next opponent is Marjory Stoneman Douglas. That game is scheduled for Friday, October 23, at 6 p.m., an hour before the Charter–Coral Springs High matchup.

Parkridge Christian dropped to 2-7 after a loss to Pine Crest School. The Panthers will finish their season against Marathon High School on Friday, October 30, at 7 p.m.

Marathon enters the upcoming matchup with a 1-6 record. Its only victory came against Babcock High School, meaning both teams will be looking to add to limited win totals when they meet.

Before those games, Coral Glades has unfinished business on Monday. The Jaguars’ seven-point lead remains in place, but their suspended contest has yet to produce a final result.
