Former Coral Springs Walgreens gets construction fence ahead of planned church conversion
Coral Springs, Florida – A chain-link fence and a “Coming Soon” banner now surround a former Walgreens building that Calvary Chapel plans to turn into a church by summer 2027.
The property at 4601 N. State Road 7, near Wiles Road, will become what the church calls its Coral Springs/Parkland campus. Calvary purchased the former pharmacy earlier this year.
The fence is the first visible sign of the planned work, but renovation has not begun. The church is still working through the city’s permitting process and has not announced a groundbreaking date.

Coral Springs issued the fence permit Sept. 22, according to city permit records. Separate approvals are needed for the work inside the building and its conversion into a place of worship.
A permit to remove the building’s interior was issued Oct. 1. Its listed status is “NOC pending,” referring to a notice of commencement.
The church submitted its remodeling permit application Sept. 11. That application remains under review with a status of “corrections pending.” The fence installation therefore marks an early step at the property while the renovation approvals remain in progress.

Plans for the building’s exterior received support from the city’s architectural review committee in June. According to meeting minutes, city officials raised no concerns about the proposed changes to the 14,982-square-foot building.
The planned move would bring the congregation from its current Coconut Creek location into Coral Springs. The church currently meets at 4690 N. State Road 7, in a strip mall behind the Chick-fil-A on Wiles Road.
Although it uses the Parkland name, its existing meeting location is across the street in Coconut Creek. The name chosen for the new campus reflects both Coral Springs and Parkland.
Summer 2027 remains the church’s stated target on its website. For now, the former Walgreens is fenced off, with interior work still awaiting the next steps and the remodeling application under city review.
