Two Coral Springs residents killed in single-car crash after vehicle leaves Sample Road and strikes pole in Coconut Creek near Tradewinds Park entrance
Coconut Creek, Florida – Two Coral Springs residents were killed late Saturday night after their vehicle left the roadway and struck a concrete traffic light pole near the entrance to Tradewinds Park, according to Coconut Creek police.
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Sample Road, a stretch of road that runs near park entrances and residential areas. Police confirmed the details on Monday as the investigation into the deadly incident continued.
Authorities said a 2023 Hyundai was traveling westbound when it suddenly left the road for reasons that have not yet been determined. The vehicle then hit a concrete traffic light pole with significant force.
Both occupants of the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was a 30-year-old man from Coral Springs, and the passenger was a 26-year-old woman, also from Coral Springs. Officials have not released their names, and the relationship between the two individuals remains unknown at this time.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said, ruling out a multi-car collision. The roadway was later cleared after investigators documented the scene and collected evidence.
Coconut Creek police said several factors are still being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. Toxicology and additional forensic tests are pending, and officials have not confirmed whether speed, impairment, or any mechanical issue played a role in the crash.
Investigators spent hours at the scene following the incident, examining vehicle damage, roadway conditions, and surrounding infrastructure near the impact site. The location, close to a major park entrance, is typically active during evening hours but was quiet at the time of the crash.

Police emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages and that more details will be released once findings are confirmed. At this point, the cause of the crash remains officially undetermined.
The Coconut Creek Police Department continues to ask for patience as they work through the evidence and wait for test results that may help clarify what led to the fatal incident.
For now, the crash has left two families in Coral Springs grieving, as authorities work to piece together the final moments leading up to the vehicle leaving Sample Road and striking the pole.
