Coral Springs High School hosts signing day celebration as student-athletes commit to continue academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level

Coral Springs, Florida – Coral Springs High School turned a simple ceremony into a celebration of years of hard work, discipline, and athletic growth as 10 student-athletes officially signed their commitments to continue their careers at the collegiate level.

The event, held as a signing day recognition for Coral Springs High School, highlighted achievements from both the baseball and boys’ basketball programs, with families, coaches, and teammates gathered to mark the milestone moment.

Baseball led the way with eight student-athletes making their college decisions official, capping off a strong season for the Colts. The group included Ryan Guthrie, Luis Comella, Alain Ducasse, Jayden Nunez, Angelo Painter, Jordan Guzman, Gabriel DeLaCruz, and Dallas Searcy.

Guthrie’s senior year stood out as one of the most complete performances on the roster. He finished the season with a team-leading .446 batting average, along with one home run, 18 RBIs, and 13 extra-base hits. On the mound, he also contributed as a pitcher, earning two wins and posting a 2.66 ERA over eight appearances. He will continue his career at South Florida State College.

Comella also made a strong impact at the plate, batting .317 with nine RBIs, four doubles, and nine runs scored. His performance earned him a commitment to Dominican University of New York.

Ducasse will head to York County Community College after a solid pitching season in which he went 3-2 with a 3.38 ERA. He also delivered nearly a strikeout per inning across 10 appearances, showing consistency on the mound.

Nunez, who spent four years with the Colts, committed to Atlantis University after contributing across multiple seasons, recording seven RBIs and scoring 17 runs during his time with the program.

Painter’s senior campaign was one of the most dominant on the pitching staff. He finished with a 1.45 ERA and a 2-0 record, while also building on previous success that included three wins as a junior and a career total of 70 strikeouts. He will continue his journey at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Guzman committed to South Carolina Central Christian College after hitting .386 with seven RBIs, two doubles, and nine runs scored, rounding out a strong offensive season.

DeLaCruz also earned a college opportunity with Atlantis University after finishing the season with a .310 on-base percentage, three RBIs, six runs scored, and a double. Searcy will continue at York County Community College after batting .356 with one home run, 12 RBIs, two doubles, and a triple. Together, the baseball team helped lead the Colts to 15 wins and a regional appearance before a close postseason loss to West Boca Raton High School.

The basketball program also had its moment in the spotlight, celebrating two additional signees: Matt Croissy and Jamir Davis.

Croissy committed to Motlow State Community College after a breakout senior season in which he led the team with 14 points per game. His improvement was especially notable after averaging just over five points per game as a junior. He also contributed across the stat sheet with six rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

Davis signed with Rochester Christian University following a strong season of his own, averaging 11.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. He helped guide the Colts through a competitive postseason run that included a district win over Boyd H. Anderson High School and a regional appearance, where the team scored 83 points despite a 16-point loss.

Coaches described the signing day as a reflection of both athletic progress and academic commitment, noting that each athlete reached the moment through years of training, discipline, and steady improvement. While the ceremony marked the end of their high school chapter, it also opened the door to new opportunities at the collegiate level.

For the Colts, the event was more than a list of commitments. It was a reminder of how a strong program can shape talent over time, turning early potential into college-level opportunity and setting the stage for the next generation of athletes to follow.
