Coral Springs moves closer to adding a new animal hospital offering routine care for local pets

Coral Springs, Florida – A new veterinary clinic may soon be joining the growing mix of businesses in Coral Springs, bringing additional options for local pet owners seeking routine medical care for their animals.

According to city planning documents, a proposed Downtown Animal Hospital is seeking approval to open in a vacant retail space at 3425 NW 99th Way. The location sits next to El Cubano Sandwich Shop and has remained empty, making it a candidate for redevelopment as part of the area’s continued commercial activity.

Plans for the clinic were recently reviewed by the city’s administrative zoning review committee. The proposal requests permission to operate in a 2,100-square-foot storefront, which is smaller than the 2,500 square feet typically required for animal hospitals under Coral Springs zoning guidelines. City officials are reviewing the request as part of the approval process.

If approved, the clinic would focus on general veterinary services for dogs and cats. City records indicate the practice would concentrate on routine care, including annual wellness exams, vaccinations, and basic preventative treatments. The operation is expected to employ between one-and-a-half and two veterinarians, suggesting a small, community-oriented practice rather than a large medical facility.

The layout of the proposed clinic includes three examination rooms, a central treatment area, an X-ray room, and a surgery suite designed for routine procedures such as spaying and neutering. A recovery room is also part of the plan, allowing pets to be monitored following procedures before being released to their owners.

Notably, the clinic would not offer overnight care, boarding, or kenneling services. City documents emphasize that all care would be provided on a same-day basis, with animals returning home after treatment. This approach aligns with the clinic’s focus on routine and non-emergency services.

At this stage, no timeline has been announced for when Downtown Animal Hospital could open its doors. Approval from the city would still be required before build-out and operations can move forward.

If the project advances, the new clinic could help meet ongoing demand for veterinary services in Coral Springs, particularly as pet ownership continues to rise. For now, city officials will continue reviewing the proposal as part of the standard zoning and planning process.
