Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook announces he is running for another term to continue guiding the city’s growth and development

Coral Springs, Florida – Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook has officially announced his bid for another term as the city’s top elected leader, signaling his intent to continue shaping the future of the community he has served for nearly two decades. Brook, who initially served as mayor from 2006 to 2010, returned to the office after winning a special election in March 2019 following the sudden passing of then-Mayor Skip Campbell. Since then, he has been re-elected twice, in November 2022 and November 2024, and now seeks another four-year term to continue his vision for Coral Springs.
“There’s still a few things that I’d like to accomplish,” Brook said in an interview with TAPinto Coral Springs. “One of them is to really take economic development in downtown to another level.” Brook sees the ongoing downtown redevelopment as a key opportunity to diversify the city’s tax base while providing new entertainment options for residents. By attracting more businesses and amenities, he hopes to create a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere that appeals to both young families and long-time residents.
Education, public safety, and entertainment are central to Brook’s strategy for attracting families. “To attract young families, like those of my own children, education, public safety and more entertainment options are helpful,” he said. Recreation is another priority, and Brook has actively promoted the expansion of recreational facilities, including the addition of more pickleball courts throughout the city. These efforts aim to provide activities and amenities for residents of all ages, emphasizing community wellness and engagement.
Brook also acknowledged concerns about the increased density and traffic in the downtown area. “They’re not used to more than a couple of minutes of traffic in our city,” he said, noting that some residents have expressed frustration. Yet he emphasized the long-term benefits of the development, saying, “This is for their benefit and the city’s, diversifying our tax base and giving more opportunities for businesses.” He added that while the city’s zoning laws could allow for even more apartments than what is currently planned, the current projects are manageable, reflecting thoughtful urban planning. “So, a lot of things, if you put it in context, it may not be as bad,” Brook said. “But I understand. I grew up in New York City.”
Beyond downtown redevelopment, Brook is preparing Coral Springs for broader financial challenges. State lawmakers are considering changes to property tax laws, a critical revenue source for municipalities, and Brook has been proactive in addressing potential impacts. He has instructed city staff to model budgets assuming property tax reductions of 10% to 20%, while also lobbying in Tallahassee to ensure Coral Springs’ interests are represented. “I’m not a speculator,” Brook said. “But I am a planner, and I am strategic. And so is our city.”
When asked why voters should support his re-election, Brook emphasized his experience and long-standing commitment to Coral Springs. “I ask for them based on my experience, my knowledge and my desire to continue to contribute to the city with all of our priorities,” he said.
Brook’s campaign focuses on continuity, experience, and strategic planning, aiming to balance growth, community needs, and fiscal responsibility. With downtown redevelopment, expanded recreational opportunities, and proactive budget planning at the forefront, Brook is positioning himself as a candidate who understands both the immediate and long-term needs of Coral Springs residents. As the city looks toward the next four years, his leadership and vision will play a central role in shaping its trajectory.
The upcoming election will provide voters the chance to decide whether Brook’s approach to growth, fiscal planning, and community development should continue guiding Coral Springs into the future. With a combination of practical experience, strategic foresight, and a focus on improving quality of life for all residents, Brook is emphasizing both continuity and progress as he seeks another term at the city’s helm.
