Ramblewood Middle School will welcome students families and chess enthusiasts for the first-ever Chess4Life Tournament on November 8
Coral Springs, Florida – Ramblewood Middle School is preparing to welcome students, families, and chess enthusiasts from across Broward County for the first-ever Chess4Life Tournament on Saturday, November 8, 2025. The event, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., will take place at 8505 W. Atlantic Blvd., promising a full day of strategic gameplay, community engagement, and school spirit.
The school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is taking a leading role in organizing the tournament. PTO President Rosaura Cruz highlighted the excitement surrounding the event, emphasizing both the community and educational benefits. “Our Principal Kirk hopes this will bring more exposure to our school. It’s a wonderful way to showcase our school spirit while raising funds to support Fun Fridays, Perfect Attendance rewards, and other incentives that benefit our students and families in need,” Cruz said. The PTO will also operate a concession stand inside the gym, offering snacks and refreshments to attendees throughout the day.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Lopdi Balloons has contributed colorful chess-themed decorations for the event, creating a visually engaging environment for participants and spectators alike. The creative décor is designed to celebrate the game of chess while highlighting the school’s commitment to fostering student involvement and community engagement.
The National Junior Honor Society, under the guidance of Mrs. Walsh, will have student volunteers assisting guests and helping them navigate the campus. Their efforts will ensure that the tournament runs smoothly and that all attendees feel welcomed and informed. Meanwhile, Coach Paradis and the school’s journalism students will capture photos and document key moments from the day, helping to preserve memories and share the excitement with the broader school community.
The Chess4Life Tournament is part of the Broward County Public Schools Applied Learning Program, an initiative aimed at promoting critical thinking, focus, and sportsmanship among students. By participating in the tournament, students have the opportunity to develop strategic thinking skills, learn the importance of patience and concentration, and engage in friendly competition with peers from different schools.
