Governor DeSantis and Florida Cabinet to review proposal to transfer land for Donald J. Trump Presidential Library in Miami-Dade County

Tallahassee, Florida – Governor Ron DeSantis announced today that he plans to propose a measure at the upcoming September 30, 2025, meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund to convey a 2.63-acre parcel in Miami-Dade County for the development of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library. The proposed site is adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower and is currently used as an employee parking lot for Miami-Dade College’s Wolfson Campus.

“President Trump has achieved results for the American people and made a lasting impact on our nation’s history,” Governor DeSantis said. “No state has better delivered the President’s agenda than the Free State of Florida, and we would be honored to house his presidential library here in his home state.”

The agenda item will be reviewed by the state’s Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, which includes Governor DeSantis as Chair, along with the Attorney General, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Commissioner of Agriculture. Established in 1855, the Board oversees the acquisition, management, protection, and disposition of state lands, making it the key decision-making body in matters such as this proposed land conveyance.

If approved, the Trump Presidential Library would mark the first presidential library to be established in Florida, a milestone for the state and a potential boost to economic activity in South Florida. The library is expected to attract visitors from across the nation, create new jobs, and provide opportunities for local businesses while preserving the legacy of the 45th and 47th President of the United States.

The chosen site, located near the iconic Freedom Tower, is strategically positioned in a historic and culturally significant area. By converting the existing parking lot into a presidential library, proponents argue that the project could bring new tourism, educational programs, and civic engagement to the region, enhancing the city’s national profile.

Supporters of the proposal highlight Florida’s strong record in advancing policies championed by President Trump, noting that establishing the library within the state aligns with honoring the President’s impact on both the nation and the state’s development. The project is expected to foster economic growth and expand cultural and historical education opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

The September 30 Board meeting will provide a formal forum for discussion and consideration of the land conveyance. If the Board approves the proposal, the Trump Presidential Library would begin the process of planning, development, and eventual construction, creating a permanent institution dedicated to preserving the history and achievements of one of America’s most influential modern presidents.

For many in Florida, the project represents more than a building—it is an opportunity to showcase the state’s pivotal role in recent American history while offering a destination for education, tourism, and civic pride. The decision by the Board of Trustees is expected to be closely watched by state officials, residents, and national observers alike.
