Coral Springs Elementary School celebrates completion of six million dollar SMART Bond renovations enhancing campus facilities

Coral Springs, Florida – Coral Springs Elementary School has successfully completed a series of extensive renovations totaling $6.1 million as part of the Broward County Public Schools SMART Bond initiative. The projects, which began in April 2023, have now passed all final inspections, signaling the end of months of construction and upgrades across the campus.

The school board is set to formally approve and accept the completed project at its upcoming meeting on Aug. 19, marking the official conclusion of a significant chapter in the school’s modernization efforts. The renovations have focused on creating a safer, more efficient, and more comfortable learning environment for students and staff.

Contractors undertook a wide range of improvements across the campus. These included major upgrades to the school’s HVAC system, essential re-roofing work, extensive restroom renovations, and enhancements to building envelopes. Multiple campus buildings also received fresh coats of paint, helping to refresh the school’s overall appearance and aesthetic appeal.

In addition to structural and facility improvements, the school’s media center also benefited from the SMART Bond upgrades. These changes were designed to create more modern, functional spaces where students can learn, study, and access digital resources effectively.

“The completion of these renovations ensures that our students have access to a safe and high-quality learning environment,” said a district official. “Every improvement, from the classrooms to the media center, has been designed with the students’ education and well-being in mind.”

The SMART Bond program itself represents a substantial investment in Broward County’s schools. Approved by voters in 2014, the initiative is part of a district-wide capital improvement plan funded through $800 million in voter-approved borrowing, alongside additional funds that bring total resources to $1.4 billion. Over the past decade, the program has been responsible for upgrading numerous schools across the county, addressing aging infrastructure, and providing enhanced educational facilities for students.

With Coral Springs Elementary now fully renovated, district leaders say the focus will continue to be on maintaining the improvements while planning future upgrades for other schools in the region. The $6.1 million project is just one example of how the SMART Bond program continues to transform the learning experience across Broward County.
