Two downtown Coral Springs businesses are requesting financial support from the city to help cover construction and renovation costs

Coral Springs, Florida – In an effort to enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of downtown Coral Springs, two local businesses are turning to the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) for financial assistance. The CRA board is set to review these requests during its upcoming meeting on Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Sawgrass Room at City Hall.
Paris Baguette, a beloved bakery chain, and Sakara Beauty & Med Spa, a popular wellness center, are both seeking grants to help fund extensive renovations at their respective locations. These projects aim to improve the exterior and interior of their spaces, contributing to the continued revitalization of the downtown area.
Sakara Beauty & Med Spa is requesting a $22,825 commercial property enhancement grant. According to city documents, the spa intends to use the funds to update its exterior signage with a modern design, as well as make significant interior improvements. These renovations will include demolition work, plumbing updates, electrical upgrades, new lighting fixtures, custom cabinetry, and the addition of treatment stations. The total cost of these improvements is estimated at $45,650.
The bakery’s grant request, however, is more substantial, reflecting the larger scale of the proposed renovation. Paris Baguette is seeking a grant to transform an empty shell of a space at 3326 University Drive into a high-end bakery. The project is expected to involve significant infrastructure work, including the installation of plumbing, electrical systems, and an HVAC system to accommodate the business’s needs. Additionally, the project will include interior construction, the creation of a commercial kitchen, food service space, lighting, signage, and seating areas for customers. According to city documents, the estimated cost of the bakery’s renovation is $861,935, and the project is expected to create between 25 and 30 new jobs once completed.
The commercial property enhancement grant program, which funds these renovations, is part of the city’s effort to improve the aesthetics and safety of downtown businesses. The program is designed to provide financial assistance to building owners or tenants in the area who wish to enhance their properties. Specifically, it helps fund improvements that will beautify commercial spaces, upgrade infrastructure, and enhance safety, particularly at the rear of buildings.
Under the grant program, the city provides financial assistance covering 50% of the documented hard costs associated with the improvements. The remaining 50% is typically the responsibility of the business owner. The CRA board will ultimately determine the exact grant amounts based on the merits of each request.
Both Paris Baguette and Sakara Beauty & Med Spa have been integral parts of the local business community, and their proposed renovations are expected to contribute to the vibrancy and growth of downtown Coral Springs. These improvements align with the city’s broader goal of fostering a thriving business district that attracts both residents and visitors.
As the CRA board considers these applications, the approval of these grants would mark a significant step toward revitalizing the downtown area and furthering the economic growth of Coral Springs. Both businesses are hopeful that the grants will help them realize their vision of creating spaces that are not only functional but also visually appealing, ultimately enhancing the overall atmosphere of the area.
Stay tuned for updates on the CRA board’s decision following the meeting, as these projects hold the potential to bring new life to downtown Coral Springs while creating jobs and supporting the local economy.
