Coral Springs runner Kendall Parrott wins BCAA cross-country championship

Coral Springs, Florida – A year after finishing second, Coral Springs resident Kendall Parrott returned to the BCAA girls’ cross-country championship and claimed the title. The St. Thomas Aquinas High School sophomore won Friday’s race at Markham Park, leading a field of 127 runners.

Parrott finished in 20:08.16, moving up one place from her result at the previous year’s championship. The victory marked a rewarding return to the county competition as she prepares for the postseason.

“This means everything to me considering last year I came in second,” Parrott said. “I really felt like giving up, but I kept reminding myself that it’s never over till it’s over, and I ended up coming away with the win.”

Her comments reflected both the difficulty of the race and the importance of improving on last year’s runner-up finish. Despite feeling like stopping, she kept going and ultimately secured first place.

Parrott’s experience with distance running began well before high school. She has been running 5Ks since childhood and started competing in them during seventh grade at Coral Springs Charter. Now a sophomore at St. Thomas Aquinas, she continues to build on those early years in the sport.

Her next races will come at the district and regional levels. Those postseason competitions could lead to an opportunity to compete for a state championship next month. For now, she heads into that stretch with the BCAA title following her second-place finish a year earlier.
