Coral Springs crime blotter reveals $44,000 scam loss along with assaults, thefts and fraud investigations
Coral Springs, Florida – The Coral Springs Police Department reported a wide range of criminal activity across the city between July 27 and August 2026, including a major impersonation scam that resulted in a victim losing $44,000, along with reports involving assaults, thefts, burglaries and fraud investigations.
Police records show that several incidents during the reporting period involved financial crimes, with investigators handling multiple fraud-related cases. The largest reported loss came from an impersonation scam in which a victim reportedly lost $44,000. Other fraud cases included reported losses of $6,750, $2,815 and several additional incidents involving amounts ranging from $300 to $1,785.
Authorities also investigated identity theft, forgery, false pretenses and other scam-related complaints during the week. Police have continued to warn residents about fraudulent schemes in which criminals attempt to gain personal information or convince victims to transfer money by pretending to represent legitimate organizations or individuals.
Along with financial crimes, Coral Springs officers responded to several violent incidents. An aggravated assault was reported on Aug. 1, and an arrest was made in connection with the case. Police also investigated multiple battery incidents, including domestic battery cases and one domestic battery by strangulation. Several arrests were made related to these reports.
A burglary involving an assault was reported on July 31, leading to the arrests of two suspects. Police also investigated an attempted vehicle burglary on July 30 where no property was reported stolen.

Property crimes continued to make up a significant portion of the weekly reports. A vehicle was reported stolen on July 27, while another burglary from a vehicle occurred on July 31. In that case, property valued at $15 was reported stolen.
Several grand theft cases were also reported, including thefts involving losses of approximately $501, $700, $976 and $1,000. Retail theft and shoplifting incidents were reported throughout the week as well, with losses ranging from as little as $9 to more than $700. Police said several suspects were arrested in connection with those cases.
Officers also handled two criminal mischief reports, including one involving more than $1,000 in damage to a vehicle. Two property damage reports and two stalking cases were also recorded during the reporting period. A weapons-related incident was reported on Aug. 1, although additional details were not released.
Police activity during the week resulted in numerous arrests for a variety of offenses. Some arrests were connected to the reported crimes, while others involved outstanding warrants, traffic-related violations and other charges.
Among those arrested was Omar Vargas, 46, who was taken into custody on July 27 on a capias warrant. Ronald Allen Brown, 30, was arrested July 28 for knowingly driving with a suspended license, while Nicole Ann Chartier, 43, Leslie Rochelle Shivers, 51, and Taliyah Sharae Davis, 23, were arrested on capias-related charges.
Additional arrests included Jamal Rashad Griffin, 36, on a charge of aggravated battery, and Laura Alexandra Lambrano Castro, 34, on a domestic battery charge. Several other individuals were arrested on July 29 and July 30 for charges including domestic battery, obstruction, shoplifting, petit theft and probation violations.
The week’s arrests also included Priscilla My Ngoc Vu, 29, and Julie Thi Nguyen, 39, who were arrested July 31 on burglary charges. Their arrests followed an alleged incident involving an occupied apartment, according to police records.
Other notable arrests included Jose Manuel Sanchez, 36, who was arrested Aug. 1 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and Jose Moises Moran Ochoa, 24, who was arrested Aug. 2 for DUI. Natalie Mardirossian, 31, was also arrested Aug. 2 on a domestic battery charge.
The Coral Springs Police Department noted that names and addresses of victims were redacted in many reports to protect their privacy. The information included in the crime blotter reflects reported incidents and arrests during the listed period, but charges remain allegations unless proven otherwise in court.
