Coral Springs man accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend and dumping backpack filled with feces and urine on her

Coral Springs, Florida – A Coral Springs man has been arrested after police say he assaulted his former girlfriend and later filled her backpack with feces, urine, and other liquids before dumping the contents on her in a parking lot.

Daniel Edward Niemiec, 20, was taken into custody on July 2 following an investigation by the Coral Springs Police Department. He faces charges including domestic battery by strangulation and two counts of domestic battery.

According to police records, the investigation began after a family member of the alleged victim contacted authorities and reported concerns about possible abuse. Investigators said the victim later provided details about a series of incidents involving Niemiec.

Police said the victim reported that an argument had occurred several days before the backpack incident, during which Niemiec allegedly slapped and choked her. The victim told investigators that after the altercation, she returned to Niemiec’s apartment complex on July 1 to collect her personal belongings.

While she was in the parking lot, police said Niemiec came outside carrying her backpack. Investigators allege that instead of returning the bag and its contents, Niemiec had filled it with various substances and then threw the contents onto the victim and across the parking area.

According to the arrest affidavit, police said Niemiec had placed feces and urine inside the backpack before adding hot sauce, ketchup, soda, and other unidentified liquids. Officers said the contents were then dumped onto the victim during the encounter.

A witness who was at the location during the incident later provided a statement to police that supported the victim’s account. According to investigators, the witness confirmed that Niemiec dumped the contents of the backpack onto the victim in the apartment complex parking lot.

Following his arrest, police said Niemiec admitted to throwing the contents of the backpack. Investigators said he told detectives that he believed the victim had been unfaithful and described the act as “payback.”

According to police, Niemiec acknowledged filling the backpack with feces, urine, hot sauce, soda, ketchup, and other fluids. He also reportedly told detectives that when the victim arrived to retrieve her belongings, he threw the backpack toward her but could not remember exactly where the items landed.

Authorities said Niemiec was arrested without incident and transported to the Broward County Jail after being taken into custody.

The case remains part of an ongoing criminal investigation, and the charges against Niemiec are allegations. He will have the opportunity to respond to the accusations through the legal process.

Domestic violence investigations often rely on statements from victims, witnesses, and other evidence collected by law enforcement. Police agencies encourage people experiencing abuse or those who believe someone may be in danger to report concerns and seek assistance.

The Coral Springs Police Department did not release additional details about the relationship between Niemiec and the alleged victim or provide further information about the status of the case.
