Coral Springs invites artists to submit sculptures for temporary display along Westview Drive next spring

Coral Springs, Florida – The city of Coral Springs is inviting artists to showcase their creativity as part of a new public art initiative along Westview Drive. The Coral Springs Public Art Committee announced plans to temporarily display up to five sculptures, aiming to bring more visual interest and community engagement to the bustling corridor.
According to city documents, the committee will officially open the call to artists on Dec. 1, with submissions accepted until Dec. 31. Artists selected for the program will receive up to $2,000 for their work, which will be on display from March or April through July of next year.
The sculptures will be installed along approximately a one-mile stretch of Westview Drive between Coral Ridge Drive and University Drive. Each piece will have its own concrete pad, ensuring it is safely displayed and easily visible to residents and visitors traveling along the route.
City officials emphasized that they are looking for unique pieces of art, including existing works, as long as they align with Coral Springs’ vision for the community. “We are looking for art that reflects the city’s vision of being the premier community in which to live, work, and raise a family,” said a city representative. The public art is also expected to embody the city’s tagline, “Everything Under the Sun,” highlighting Coral Springs’ vibrant and diverse character.
Once the temporary display period ends, the city will consider purchasing one or more of the sculptures for its permanent public art collection. The committee has a budget of $42,000 for acquisitions, funded through the city’s public art fund, which receives revenue from fees associated with new developments and major renovations. This approach allows the city to support local and regional artists while steadily expanding its permanent public art program.
The selection process is set to begin in January when the committee will review submissions. Final decisions on the sculptures to be displayed are expected by March, giving artists a clear timeline and enough time to prepare their work.
By engaging local and visiting artists, city officials hope to create a dynamic and visually stimulating environment for residents and commuters alike. The project represents part of a larger effort to integrate public art into Coral Springs’ urban landscape, turning ordinary streets into spaces that inspire creativity, reflection, and community pride.
The city encourages artists of all backgrounds and experience levels to apply. With funding support and prominent display locations along a key stretch of Westview Drive, the program provides a unique opportunity for artists to gain exposure and contribute to Coral Springs’ growing cultural footprint.
