Locked out Coral Springs resident’s attempt to get help ends with friend climbing on car police vehicle damage and arrest

Coral Springs, Florida – What began as a simple attempt to regain access to a locked apartment in Coral Springs quickly spiraled into a chaotic chain of events involving a damaged car, police intervention, and the arrest of a woman from Miami Gardens.

According to a report from the Coral Springs Police Department, the incident unfolded during the early evening hours of March 19 at an apartment complex located on the 4100 block of Northwest 90th Avenue. Authorities say what started as a call for help between friends ultimately resulted in criminal charges, property damage, and a trip to jail.

Police said the situation first came to their attention at approximately 6:40 p.m., when a resident in the building contacted authorities after hearing a loud crash outside his unit. The man told officers he believed a silver compact vehicle had struck the building. When he looked outside to investigate, he reportedly saw two women near the vehicle. One of them, he said, was standing on the roof of the car and attempting to reach a second-floor apartment balcony above his unit.

Officers arrived at the complex shortly afterward and located the vehicle in the parking lot behind the building. According to the report, the car — identified as a Chevrolet Spark — had visible damage to its front end. Investigators also noticed footprints on the roof of the vehicle, suggesting someone had climbed onto it.

Police soon identified the driver as 24-year-old Brianna Desiree Ascar. Officers approached the car and instructed her to turn off the engine. Authorities say she refused to comply and instead became confrontational.

The report states that Ascar quickly grew “verbally hostile,” escalating tensions as officers attempted to control the situation. Concerned she might attempt to leave the scene, officers moved to remove her from the vehicle.

According to police, Ascar resisted their efforts. She reportedly braced herself inside the car and tried to prevent officers from placing handcuffs on her. Despite repeated commands to cooperate, the report states that she refused to comply.

The situation intensified as officers worked to restrain her. Eventually, police pulled her from the vehicle and took her to the ground, where she continued resisting before officers were finally able to secure handcuffs.

Authorities say Ascar repeatedly refused to identify herself during the encounter and directed several threats toward officers.

“Suck my d—,” she blurted out to the police officers. “I’ll put my foot up your ass,” she said in another instance.

Even after being handcuffed, police said the confrontation did not end. As officers attempted to place her into a patrol vehicle, Ascar reportedly continued resisting. According to the report, she kicked the door shut and struck the rear right-side quarter panel, causing significant damage to the police vehicle.

After officers finally secured her inside the patrol car, investigators spoke with the other woman involved in the incident. She explained that she lived in a second-floor apartment and had accidentally locked herself out earlier that day.

Unable to get back inside, the woman reportedly called Ascar for help. Their plan, she told police, was to climb onto the car and reach the apartment’s balcony in order to access the unit.

Authorities ultimately arrested Ascar and charged her with assaulting an officer with a verbal threat, resisting arrest with violence, and criminal mischief.

Before being taken to jail, Ascar was transported to Broward Health Coral Springs for medical clearance. Afterward, officers processed her at the police station and then transferred her to Broward County Main Jail.

Court records show that Ascar was later released from custody after posting a $7,000 bond.

What began as an improvised attempt to solve a lockout problem ended in a very different outcome — one that involved property damage, police intervention, and criminal charges. Authorities have not indicated whether additional charges could arise related to the vehicle striking the building, but the case remains documented in the police report filed following the incident.
