Coral Springs, Florida – J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs is celebrating a significant achievement as its graduation rate climbed sharply in 2025, reflecting a trend of improvement across Broward County Public Schools. The school recorded a graduation rate of 97.2% last year, a notable rise from 93.9% in 2024, according to newly released data from the Florida Department of Education.

This increase of more than three percentage points places J.P. Taravella among seven district schools that saw similar growth in graduation rates last year. It also contributes to Broward County’s record-breaking overall graduation rate of 91.4% in 2025, up from 89% in 2024. School officials say this is the first time in 25 years that the district graduation rate surpassed 90%.

“We are extremely proud of these historic results,” Superintendent Howard Hepburn said in a press release. “… Our students are rising to the challenge, our educators are giving their all, and our families and community partners are supporting our students every step of the way.”

J.P. Taravella High’s improvement is part of a broader trend in the district. Since 2022, the school’s graduation rate has jumped 6.2 percentage points, climbing from 91% to its current level. All 36 traditional high schools in the district now boast graduation rates of at least 90%, with 31 exceeding 95%. Additionally, seven specialty academy schools achieved a perfect 100% graduation rate last year, reflecting the district’s growing focus on both academic rigor and student support.

Other Coral Springs area schools also showed strong performance. Coral Glades High School recorded a graduation rate of 98.2%, up from 97.3% the previous year. The school’s rate has steadily climbed over the past five years, starting at 92.9% in 2021. Coral Springs High School maintained a graduation rate of 98.1%, consistent with the previous year, while Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School reached an impressive 99.4%, a slight increase from 99% the year prior.

Educators and administrators attribute the gains to a combination of factors, including targeted academic interventions, strong community engagement, and increased support for both students and teachers. Programs aimed at early identification of students at risk of falling behind, enhanced tutoring opportunities, and collaborative parent-teacher initiatives have all played a role in driving these record results.

The 2025 graduation data underscore the commitment of Broward County Public Schools to providing equitable educational opportunities and ensuring that students are equipped for postsecondary success. With nearly all traditional high schools exceeding a 90% graduation rate, the district has set a new benchmark for achievement.
