Coral Springs man arrested again this year after allegedly strangling woman in domestic violence incident

Coral Springs, Florida – A Coral Springs man was arrested early Monday morning for allegedly strangling a woman, marking his second domestic violence arrest in less than a year, according to police reports.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on December 9, when a woman called 911 to report that her fiancé, Michael Wiltshire, had come home upset after finding her on the phone. According to the Coral Springs Police report, Wiltshire “grabbed her by the neck and squeezed, causing the victim to momentarily black out” after snatching the phone from her.

The victim reportedly fled to a neighbor’s apartment to call police while the couple’s 1-year-old child remained asleep in their home. Officers noted that the woman’s voice was hoarse and that she was lightly coughing—both signs consistent with having been strangled.

She was able to provide authorities with a description of Wiltshire, including the mint-green tracksuit he was wearing. When police later located Wiltshire, he denied visiting the apartment. When asked how his fiancée could describe his outfit, he told officers that he had called her and informed her of what he was wearing.

Wiltshire was charged with domestic violence by strangulation and robbery by sudden snatching.

This arrest follows a previous domestic violence case involving Wiltshire in May, when police allege he headbutted and kicked a woman after she refused to leave his mother’s home with him. That case remains pending. Police reports did not clarify whether the victims in the May and December incidents are the same woman.

Local authorities continue to emphasize the seriousness of domestic violence and the importance of early reporting. Coral Springs Police officials remind the public that they take any form of domestic abuse seriously and encourage anyone experiencing similar situations to contact law enforcement immediately.

“Domestic violence is never acceptable,” police said in a statement. “We are committed to protecting victims and holding offenders accountable.”

While the most recent incident highlights ongoing concerns around domestic abuse, it also underscores the complex nature of cases involving repeated offenders. Experts say repeat domestic violence incidents are not uncommon, and they stress the importance of both legal intervention and support for victims.

Wiltshire’s arrest is part of an ongoing investigation, and authorities are reviewing both incidents as they proceed with the legal process. Meanwhile, the community is left grappling with the realities of domestic violence and the critical need for vigilance, awareness, and swift action to prevent further harm.
