Commissioner Simmons of Coral Springs is appointed chair of the National League of Cities Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for 2026

Coral Springs, Florida – Commissioner Joshua Simmons of Coral Springs has been appointed Chair of the National League of Cities (NLC) 2026 Transportation and Infrastructure Services (TIS) Federal Advocacy Committee, a prestigious role that positions him to influence national policy on transportation and infrastructure for communities of all sizes. The appointment, announced by NLC President Kevin Kramer of Louisville, Kentucky, was made during the organization’s annual City Summit in Salt Lake City. Simmons will serve a one-year term, providing strategic direction to the committee’s federal advocacy agenda and helping guide priorities that affect cities, towns, and villages across the country.

“I am honored to serve as Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee and to represent Coral Springs and communities across the country,” Commissioner Simmons said. “I look forward to advocating for safer roads, stronger regional connectivity, and innovative transportation solutions that improve quality of life for residents everywhere.”

In his new role, Commissioner Simmons will play a pivotal part in shaping the NLC’s national policy positions, advocating before Congress, engaging with the federal Administration, and working closely with local leaders to ensure that communities like Coral Springs have a strong voice in discussions about infrastructure, transit, and transportation planning. His leadership will be critical as cities nationwide seek to modernize transportation networks, improve public transit access, and expand sustainable mobility solutions.
