Coral Springs man arrested after slashing Maserati and causing over $1,000 in damage at Walmart parking lot
Coral Springs, Florida – A 31-year-old Coral Springs man was arrested after allegedly damaging a Maserati in a Walmart parking lot, causing more than $1,000 in damage, according to police reports. The incident occurred at the Walmart located at 3801 Turtle Creek Drive, where the suspect, identified as Michael Arias, reportedly slashed tires, scratched doors, and punctured the trunk and quarter panel of a 2020 Maserati Ghibli.
According to an arrest warrant, a witness observed Arias walking aggressively toward the luxury vehicle. “She saw him bend down behind the car, hit the trunk with an unknown black object, and then walk along the driver’s side, scratching both doors,” the report states. Arias allegedly continued by slashing the rear tire and leaving puncture marks along the vehicle’s body.
The victim, who said he did not know Arias, agreed to prosecute. Police later located Arias inside the Subway restaurant at the Walmart. After being read his Miranda rights, Arias reportedly admitted to damaging the Maserati, first with his keys and then with a knife. Authorities recovered a black folding knife from his pocket during the arrest.
Arias told police the confrontation stemmed from a near-collision, claiming the victim nearly hit him while he walked in a crosswalk. However, officers noted that Arias waited for the victim to exit the car before approaching and vandalizing the vehicle. The eyewitness also positively identified Arias as the person responsible for the damage.
Following his arrest, Arias was booked into the Broward County Main Jail and charged with criminal mischief over $1,000. He has since posted bond and is currently out of custody while awaiting further proceedings.
