Coral Springs man with sixteen prior license suspensions arrested by police near middle school during morning traffic enforcement

Coral Springs, Florida – A Coral Springs man with a long history of traffic violations was arrested last week after being stopped near Coral Springs Middle School while driving with a suspended license, according to a police report.
The incident occurred on September 3 at approximately 8:50 a.m., when an officer was conducting school zone enforcement on Wiles Road. The officer noticed a white van stopped at a red light in the left-turn lane. A teenage passenger exited the vehicle and crossed the street within an active traffic lane, a violation in a school zone.
As the traffic signal turned green, the officer activated emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Louis Tieso. When asked for his license, Tieso admitted he did not have it with him and acknowledged that it was suspended.
A computer check revealed that Tieso had 16 prior license suspensions and one previous revocation. Additionally, he had been classified as a habitual traffic offender as of June 5. The report described his driving record as extensive and concerning, raising serious questions about public safety, particularly in school zones.
Following the traffic stop, Tieso was arrested and transported to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail. He faced charges of driving while license suspended – habitual, as well as parking in a no-parking zone. Authorities confirmed that Tieso has since been released on bond.
Coral Springs police emphasized the dangers posed by repeat offenders operating vehicles despite multiple license suspensions. Driving while suspended, particularly for habitual offenders, increases the risk of accidents and endangers pedestrians, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic like school zones.
The arrest also highlights the importance of proactive school zone enforcement. Officers frequently monitor school areas during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups to ensure compliance with traffic laws and protect children from potential accidents. In this case, the officer’s vigilance directly prevented a potentially dangerous situation.
Residents expressed concern after learning about the incident, noting that habitual offenders driving near schools present a persistent risk. City officials continue to support strict enforcement and encourage drivers to adhere to traffic regulations, particularly in areas where children are present.
This arrest marks the latest in a series of enforcement actions targeting habitual traffic offenders in Broward County, signaling that law enforcement remains committed to keeping roadways and school zones safe for everyone.
