Coral Springs explores $95,000 investment in retail consultant to boost dining, entertainment, and shopping options for residents and visitors

Coral Springs, Florida – In a move aimed at boosting the city’s retail and entertainment landscape, city officials in Coral Springs are set to deliberate on hiring a retail consultant to help attract a diverse range of businesses. This potential investment of $95,000 over two years is being considered during the upcoming City Commission meeting, scheduled for Wednesday. The decision to engage a retail expert, specifically The Retail Coach from Tupelo, Mississippi, comes after extensive feedback from residents and businesses during Coral Springs’ long-term planning process two years ago.
City documents reveal that residents expressed a strong desire for more retail options, dining experiences, and entertainment venues. This feedback has spurred the development of a retail recruitment strategy for the current fiscal year, aimed at bringing businesses that align with the community’s aspirations. Sayona Khandwalla, responding to a recent inquiry by TAPinto Coral Springs, emphasized that the economic development survey highlighted a community-wide interest in small businesses, family-oriented establishments, upscale dining, and entertainment options that cater to a broad demographic.
The city’s selection committee reviewed proposals from two firms and ultimately chose The Retail Coach, based on their expertise and track record in retail development. The consultant is expected to provide a range of services that will benefit Coral Springs. These services include a thorough analysis of the existing market, identifying opportunities for growth, and recruiting retailers and developers to the area. Additionally, the consultant will work closely with both existing and new businesses to facilitate expansions and introduce new product lines that cater to local demand.
Under the proposed contract, The Retail Coach will receive $52,000 in the first year and $40,000 in the second year, with an additional $3,000 allocated for travel expenses. This investment reflects the city’s commitment to creating a vibrant commercial environment that can attract both residents and visitors. The city leaders believe that by bringing in specialized expertise, they can significantly enhance the economic vitality of Coral Springs and provide residents with more diverse and appealing options for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
The City Commission meeting, where this proposal will be discussed, is set to begin at 9 a.m. and will take place in the commission chambers at city hall, located at 9500 W. Sample Road. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion as the city deliberates on this important initiative.
Coral Springs’ leadership sees this initiative as a crucial step toward achieving the community’s vision of a more dynamic and economically robust city. By leveraging the expertise of The Retail Coach, the city hopes to attract a mix of businesses that not only meet the current needs of residents but also contribute to the long-term growth and sustainability of the local economy. This strategic move aligns with the broader goals of fostering a vibrant community where people can live, work, and play with access to top-tier retail and entertainment options.
